Mission and Responsibilities

The Independent Department of Government Satellite Service is responsible for ensuring the secure and reliable operation of the government satellite service PRS (Public Regulated Service), which is part of the European Galileo system. Specifically, its responsibilities include:

  • Secure communications for the Public: Management of high-security voice and data connections for government entities
  • Protection from risks and interference: Monitoring and addressing electromagnetic interference and security risks in satellite communications
  • User and access management: Determining entities and groups entitled to access the service, as well as usage conditions
  • Compliance and control: Ensuring that PRS receiver and device manufacturers adhere to security standards and international specifications
  • Cooperation and international representation: Collaborating with national and European authorities and representing the country in international organizations on satellite security issues
