The Department of Registration, Maintenance, and Preservation of Collections at the Philatelic and Postal Museum has the mission of safeguarding and showcasing the historical and cultural heritage of the Greek postal service. It ensures the protection, preservation, and aesthetic presentation of exhibits, works, and archival material related to the history of the Hellenic Post and philately.
The Department is responsible for the receipt, registration, and archiving of each new exhibit, the collection and documentation of information, as well as the maintenance of complete records with multimedia elements. Additionally, it supervises the condition of the material, takes care of the maintenance and restoration of objects, and controls the climatic conditions of exhibition and storage to ensure their long-term preservation.
Furthermore, the Department manages the Museum's Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and organizes the security programs, ensuring the protection of the collections on a daily basis and during holidays. Through its actions, it contributes to the preservation of a unique cultural treasure, offering visitors an authentic experience of getting to know the history of the Greek postal service.
