The Postal Services Department is responsible for the design and supervision of the provision of quality and reliable postal services throughout the country. Its central responsibility is to determine the conditions and selection criteria of the entity providing the universal service, as well as to conclude the relevant contracts, in accordance with the current legislative and regulatory framework.
The Department ensures compliance with the basic requirements for service provision, takes care of the compensation of the net cost of the universal service, and systematically monitors market quality, proposing improvements where necessary. It closely collaborates with the EETT for the resolution of requests and complaints, while providing documented responses to parliamentary control issues.
Additionally, the Department represents the Ministry of Digital Governance at European and international levels, participating in the formulation of policies and positions for the sector. It supports actions that promote scientific research and innovation in postal services, and has the authority to requisition entities in emergency situations to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the system.
Through its actions, the Postal Services Department contributes to the creation of a modern, reliable, and competitive environment that meets the needs of society and the economy.
