The General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post (GSTP) of the Ministry of Digital Governance announces the conduct of a consultation on the National Broadband Plan 2026–2030, which constitutes the new National Connectivity Strategy of the country for the period up to 2030.
The Plan assesses the current state of broadband infrastructure in Greece, analyzes the European and national policy framework, and sets the vision and strategic goals for the next five years. The central vision of the Plan is the utilization of very high capacity networks (VHCN) and 5G as key catalysts for digital transformation, aiming for convergence with the European average and universal access for every citizen and business to reliable connectivity services by 2030.
The Plan is organized around three strategic axes:
- Removal of administrative barriers and facilitation of investments — simplification of licensing procedures, utilization of e-Dieleusis, alignment with the Gigabit Infrastructure Act.
- Development of infrastructure and improvement of broadband services — expansion of FTTP/VHCN in urban and rural areas, enhancement of 5G mobile networks, implementation of the second phase of "White Areas" and new public intervention projects.
- Resilient, secure, and sustainable networks — strengthening cybersecurity, energy efficiency of infrastructure, utilization of satellite and submarine connections.
The General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post invites electronic communications service providers, infrastructure entities, research and academic institutions, consumer organizations, local government, and all interested parties to submit their views and comments.
Interested parties are invited to send their views electronically to the address ggtt@mindigital.gr by June 25, 2026.
The results of the consultation will be used to finalize the National Broadband Plan 2026–2030 before its official approval.
