Faster development of Gigabit networks and better coordination of technical projects

The draft law for the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2024/1309 – Gigabit Infrastructure Act has been put up for public consultation, aiming to make the development of networks faster, coordinated, and efficient.

What does this mean in practice?

We utilize existing infrastructures such as conduits and utility networks to avoid unnecessary new works.

We coordinate technical projects. The same road does not need to be dug up again and again by different entities, while road and sidewalk restorations can be done in a coordinated and proper manner.

Better information and planning. Through a Single Information Point, providers, municipalities, and responsible entities will be able to know what infrastructures exist and what projects have been scheduled.

Clearer procedures for permits, with specific deadlines.

New buildings ready for the future, with the necessary infrastructures to be able to connect to fiber optic networks.

The development of Gigabit networks is not just about telecommunications. It concerns citizens, businesses, municipalities, and all entities that design and implement technical projects. Your comments will help make it better.

The public consultation is an opportunity to hear the comments and suggestions of all interested parties and improve the final framework.

Greece continues to invest in modern digital infrastructures, with less hassle, better coordination, and faster network development.
